Introduction to Assessments and Research

The District and the Watershed Partnership are currently involved in several long-term data collection projects. Since 2003, we have collected water quality data for streams in our watershed.

We have recently partnered with Vermont DEC and the Rutland Regional Planning Commission to conduct geomorphic assessments on the major rivers and many of their smaller tributaries in the watershed.

Since 1999, we have partnered with the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District to collect temperature data on the Mettowee River and its tributaries.
